SCMHCA Members,
The FMHCA Government Relations Committee met on August 21st. While we are actively working on the policy and legislative changes mentioned in last month’s update, there are no significant updates to share at this time. A summary of the meeting is attached for your review.
In the meantime, here are a few ways you can get engaged this fall!
As we await the appointment of new legislative chairs and committee leads, we are focusing on presenting our Chapter 491 board with necessary policy changes that will help us work more effectively. Attending Chapter 491 board meetings is a great way to learn about the policies related to our licensure. If you’re interested, here are two upcoming meetings:

I plan to attend both meetings and will keep our members updated on what I learn. I’d love for you to participate if you’re interested. The agendas for these meetings are expected to be posted HERE soon.
On a separate note, we are expecting a webinar to be completed soon that will teach us how to effectively advocate for LMHC’s when speaking to elected and appointed legislators. I will share it with you as soon as it goes live so you can prepare for the upcoming legislative season. We have some important bills that need approval this year, and everyone’s support will be crucial!
